Food, music, and the art of paying attention.

I’m Stephanie. I make food and music—and I write about what happens while I’m learning to make both.

About Ode to Oakleaf

Making ordinary things worth noticing.

This began as a name for my music. It grew into a place for the other work I kept returning to: milling grain, figuring out fermentation, tracing the history of a dish, and learning through plenty of mistakes.

The common thread is attention—not perfection. I want useful food, honest songs, and a little more wonder in the middle of an ordinary day.

Letters from Oakleaf

A good recipe, a song, and something worth noticing.

About twice a month, I send what is useful or taking shape—a recipe, a kitchen question, a listening note, or a glimpse of the work in progress.

You can reply. I read the letters that come back.

No daily churn. No pretending ordinary life is effortless.
