Eklöv | No. 1 album cover

Short biography

Ode to Oakleaf is the musical project of Arizona songwriter Stephanie, whose indie-folk work is rooted in memory, place, and the imperfect process of making ordinary life meaningful. Her 2019 two-song release, Eklöv | No. 1, features “10 Years Gone” and “Drifters,” with new songs now in development.

150-word biography

Stephanie records as Ode to Oakleaf, an Arizona indie-folk songwriting project shaped by memory, place, and the patient work of making something meaningful. The name began with music and has grown into a wider creative practice that also includes food, craft, and stories from the unfinished middle. Her 2019 release Eklöv | No. 1 brings together two songs, “10 Years Gone” and “Drifters.” New songs are now in development, with Studio Letters documenting the choices, questions, lyric changes, and arrangement decisions that happen before a recording is finished. Rather than hiding that process, Stephanie treats it as part of the work: a place for listeners to understand how songs become themselves. Ode to Oakleaf is building a sustainable, listener-supported path toward future studio recordings through letters, work-in-progress notes, grants, preorders, licensing, and direct community support. The goal is simple: make strong, honest records whenever the songs are ready, and invite people into the making without turning private family life into content.

Artist statement

I’m Stephanie. I make food and music. Ode to Oakleaf began as a name for my songs and grew into a place for the things I keep returning to: memory, place, process, and the ordinary work of making something meaningful. The music starts quietly—with a lyric, a question, or a melody that will not leave—and develops slowly enough to keep the human edges intact. I’m interested in songs that feel lived in rather than polished past recognition. This page holds the finished work, the unfinished middle, and the road toward whatever comes next.

Current project

The next recordings

Stephanie is developing a new body of songs and building the support needed to move them from handwritten drafts into professional recordings. The next phase centers on song development, arrangement, and studio production, shared honestly through Studio Letters as the work takes shape.

Eklöv | No. 1 is the first finished work gathered here: two songs, “10 Years Gone” and “Drifters,” released in 2019. The next body of work is still in development. Studio Letters will document that middle ground—the lyric changes, arrangement questions, voice memos, and small decisions that happen before a song is ready for the studio.
